Clearwater holds the #1 Beach in the US spot not only according to Trip Advisor (2019 Traveler’s Choice), but also according to me. Every time we come here, we have so much fun! If you haven’t had the opportunity enjoy its fine white sand and beautiful waves on your family travels, what are you waiting for? Just make sure to get there early, because it gets crowded and parking is limited! There are so many things to do in Clearwater, in addition to the beach. It’s no wonder locals and tourists, kids and adults we all want to come here every summer. Last year, we went to the Captain Memo’s Pirate Adventure looking for something my daughter would really enjoy. Little did we know, the four of us had an unexpected awesome time!

The Captain Memo Pirate Cruise is located in the heart of Clearwater. It cruises around the harbor and underneath the bridge. You might even be able to see dolphins. The children entertainment includes pirate stories, treasure hunts, face painting, water gun battles and musical games. For the adults, they offer complimentary soft drinks, beer and wine. Boarding is fast and easy and the kids receive a pirate hat and toy gun (the gun has to be returned). If you are wondering whether it’s worth to spend the $28 for kids & $36 for adults on your Clearwater vacation, I’ll tell you go ahead and do it! We got our money’s worth and more.
First of all, I was a little apprehensive because my daughter is very energetic and unpredictable, so we are very afraid to take her on boat rides. We haven’t even taken her on a cruise yet for this reason. But trust me, the staff is here to entertain and they understand kids. They are super friendly and keep kids busy the whole time, which means adults can just sit back and relax, while enjoying beer or wine. The boat is large enough for everyone to find a seat and get a nice view of the water. Even though we caught a little bit of rain, there was enough room under the roof to cover ourselves from the rain. The ride is for about 1 ½ hours.
I definitely recommend Captain Memo’s Pirate Adventure for an afternoon of family fun and relaxation. They are open 7 days a week. We didn’t have to make a reservation in a week morning, but I would definitely check the website for weekend and holiday schedules. It is www.captainmemo.com.
